It is with great pleasure and honor to welcome you to our newly released journal, the International Journal of Drug Research in Clinic (IJDrug). Any substance other than food that is used to prevent, diagnose, treat, or relieve symptoms of a disease or abnormal condition is called a “drug”. Pharmaceutical drugs are often classified into drug classes which are groups of related drugs having similar chemical structures and the same mechanism of action. They may be used for a limited duration, or on a regular basis for chronic disorders. This is especially noteworthy during the pandemic and epidemic events which the use of the appropriate drugs is associated with better outcomes and improved survival. However, inappropriate prescribing is a recognized worldwide problem in the healthcare delivery system. Assessment of drug use patterns with World Health Organization (WHO) Drug Use Indicators is becoming increasingly necessary towards promoting rational drug use, especially in developing countries. In the last two decades, the WHO and others have promoted rational drug prescription.

 In this regard, antibiotics are of significant importance since their misuse and overuse use can lead to antibiotic resistance, as well as it can take 10-15 years and over $ 1 billion to develop a new antibiotic. On the other hand, careful attention must be paid to pharmacovigilance and reducing the harm of medication since adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are considered to be among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality with very high economic costs. The Discovery and development of new drugs from the lab to the clinic is another main issue. According to the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, an average of approximately 40 novel drugs are approved per year. Drug discovery and development process is nowadays conducted in relatively standardized sequence of phases, starting with Discovery and being followed by Preclinical, Clinical and Non-Clinical Development. Randomized controlled trials and the use of hospital databases are the main premarketing methods used to detect the efficacy and safety of these drugs. We now wish to utilize the experience gained over the years and further extend our international scholarly publishing activities to include a journal devoted to original drug research in clinical medicine. We look forward to scientific studies from all over the world and are delighted that you are joining us as readers and hope you will also join us as authors, reviewers, and editors in the future.
